Democratic Governor's Association names Locke as Vice Chair

OLYMPIA - Gov. Gary Locke will now serve the Democratic Governor's Association as the Vice Chairman of the organization.

"I am pleased and honored to hold this position, " Locke said. "I look forward to working with my democratic colleagues in this capacity, as we try together to better our respective states and our nation."

"Democratic governors have developed innovative programs and successful governing models in their own states. It is important as leaders of our states that we share our efforts and discuss what lies ahead for our states and our nation."

The Vice Chair serves as the senior member of the DGA Executive Committee, and will work closely with the Chairman, California Governor Gray Davis. Locke will help shape the agenda and strategy of the organization, host policy conferences, and serve as a spokesman for the nation's Democratic governors.
