Locke announces selections for state boards and commissions

OLYMPIA - Gov. Gary Locke today announced appointments to the State Board of Health, the Affordable Housing Advisory Board, the Electrical Board and the Dental Quality Assurance Commission.

State Board of Health

The board develops state health policy.

Linda Lake, of Kirkland, is the executive director of Pike Market Medical Clinic. Her term, vacated when Dennis Braddock resigned to become the Secretary of the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, expires July 1, 2001.

Affordable Housing Advisory Board

The board analyzes solutions and programs and makes recommendations that address the state's need for affordable housing.

Hugh Spitzer, of Seattle, is a municipal bond attorney at a private law firm. His term expires Jan. 26, 2003.

Electrical Board

The board establishes both general and specialty electrical contractors' licenses and prepares and administers written examinations.

Joan Albert, of Camas, is a bookkeeper and journeyman at Ross Electrical Co. Her term expires July 7, 2003.

Richard Alford, of Ollalla, is the chief electrical inspector for the City of Seattle. His term expires July 7, 2004.

Gloria Ashford, of Woodinville, is the owner of Ashford Electrical. Her term expires July 7, 2003.

David Bowman, of Spokane, is a sales representative for Hubbell, Inc. His term expires July 7, 2003.

Chris Cook, of Yakima, is the chief executive officer of Central Telecom East, Inc. His term expires July 7, 2004.

Charles Gregg, of Tacoma, is the chief electrical inspector for the City of Tacoma. His term expires July 7, 2004.

David Jacobsen, of Burlington, is the manager of infrastructure provisioning support and project management at GTE Northwest. His term expires July 7, 2002.

Jim Simmons, of Olympia, is the owner and manager of Mr. Electric of Olympia. His term expires July 7, 2003.

Fred Tricarico, of Seattle, is a customer data technician for US West Communications. His term expires July 7, 2001.

Dental Quality Assurance Commission

The commission processes applications for dental licensure; recommends and adopts rules and regulations for administration of the regulatory law; and investigates, reviews, and conducts hearings on alleged violations of the regulatory law.

Theresa Cheng, of Issaquah, is a self-employed periodontist. Her term expires June 30, 2004.
