Locke names Jim Hedrick as acting legislative director

OLYMPIA - Gov. Gary Locke today named Jim Hedrick as acting legislative director.

Hedrick comes to the Governor's Office from the Office of Financial Management (OFM) where he served as an executive policy analyst since September 1998. Prior to working for OFM, Hedrick was a legislative liaison for the Washington State Department of Revenue and a research analyst for the Washington State House of Representatives.

"I am honored for the opportunity Governor Locke has afforded me," Hedrick said. "I look forward to assisting him shape a legislative agenda that builds on the great work he and the Legislature have already accomplished to maintain the high quality of life here in Washington."

Hedrick will serve as acting legislative director until December. Bob Edie, who left the post to become vice president for external affairs at Western Washington University, most recently held the position.

Hedrick, 33, earned his bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Washington in 1989. As the governor's legislative director, Hedrick will earn a salary of $79,500 per year.
