OLYMPIA – Oct. 21, 2004 – Gov. Gary Locke today issued the following statement on the announcement from Primaris Airlines Inc. and The Boeing Company that the Las Vegas-based carrier plans to buy 20 Boeing 7E7-8 Dreamliners and 20 737-800s:

“This is great news for The Boeing Company and for Washington state!

“Washington is proud to be the home of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, and the home of the 7E7 Dreamliner. This multi-billion-dollar deal is further proof that there is great interest in this new airplane – the most efficient and cost-effective plane ever built.

“The 7E7 is a new airplane for a new world. It solidifies Boeing as the innovative, business-focused leader in commercial aerospace.

“We commend Boeing for its innovation, and for landing this deal. We congratulate Primaris for being the first U.S. airline to purchase the 7E7.

“It’s also great news that Primaris plans to purchase 20 Boeing 737-800s, and that the company has agreed to take options for 25 additional 737-800s and 15 additional 7E7-8s.”
