Gov. Gary Locke Announces Appointments to Boards and Commissions

Gov. Gary Locke today announced the following appointments to state boards and commissions:

Affordable Housing Advisory Board

Annika Simmons of Tacoma has been appointed to a term ending Jan. 26, 2006. Simmons is an intake and referral coordinator for Washington Women’s Employment & Education.

Pedro Perez of Mount Vernon has been appointed to a term ending Jan. 26, 2008. Perez is an account executive with Comcast. The Affordable Housing Advisory Board serves as principal advisory body to the Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development on housing and housing-related issues.

Board of Accountancy

Astrid Aamot of Bow, Barbara Adams of Spokane, James Caley of Vancouver, Robin Clark of Bremerton, and Ronald Sabado of Auburn have been reappointed to terms ending Sept. 9, 2007. The Board of Accountancy regulates public accounting through examinations, licensing, compliant investigation and continuing professional education.

Board of Registration for Architects

Jerry Q. Lee of Mercer Island has been appointed to a term ending July 17, 2010. Lee is chief executive officer of MulvannyG2 Architecture. The Board of Registration for Architects examines and licenses architects within the state; investigates violation of state regulations relating to the practice of architecture; and recommends rules and regulations for administering the licensing laws.

Commute Trip Reduction Task Force

Timothy Fredrickson of Richland and Michael Harbour of Olympia have been appointed to terms ending Dec. 31, 2006. Fredrickson is general manager of Ben Franklin Transit. Harbour is general manager of Intercity Transit. The Commute Trip Reduction Task Force establishes guidelines for commute trip reduction plans.

Correctional Industries Board of Directors

Christopher Winters of Tacoma has been reappointed to a term ending Sept. 25, 2006. The Correctional Industries Board of Directors advises the Department of Corrections on programs designed to offer work experience and training of inmates, along with the investing of funds from enterprises and work programs.

Economic Development Finance Authority

Lori Nay of Naches has been appointed to a term ending Oct. 19, 2006. Nay is an investment representative with Edward Jones Investments.

Mike Marave of Everett has been appointed to a term ending Oct. 19, 2008. Marave is vice president of international operations for Pacifica Bank. The Economic Development Finance Authority helps small and medium sized businesses meet their capital needs.

Fire Protection Policy Board

Mark Kahley of University Place has been reappointed to a term ending April 15, 2007. The Fire Protection Policy Board sets policy on fire-protection matters and advises and assists the chief of the State Patrol and the director of Fire Protection on all fire-protection matters and in the development of a budget.

Governor’s Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS

E. John Valliant of Tacoma has been appointed to a term ending June 30, 2005. Valliant is a health services consultant with the Department of Health.

Tina Podlodowski of Seattle has been appointed to a term ending June 30, 2007. Podlodowski is executive director of Lifelong AIDS Alliance. The Governor’s Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS advises the Governor on HIV/AIDS related programs and policy.

Governor’s Affirmative Action Policy Committee

Rob Fukai of Olympia and Helen Remick of Seattle have been reappointed to terms ending May 31, 2007. The Governor’s Affirmative Action Policy Committee serves as a policy and review body for the state’s affirmative action program and reviews and approves state agency affirmative action plans.


State Council on Aging

Esther Gregg of Rosburg has been appointed to a term ending Sept. 15, 2006. Gregg is a former county commissioner for Wahkiakum County. The State Council on Aging advises the governor and Department of Social and Health Services on policies, programs and services affecting older people.
