Gov. Gary Locke Appoints Carrie Runge to Benton-Franklin Counties Superior Court

Gov. Gary Locke today appointed Carrie Runge to the Benton-Franklin Counties Superior Court.

Runge’s appointment is to a new superior court position authorized by both Benton and Franklin counties and the Legislature. This position was created to help handle rising caseloads.

“I am pleased to name Carrie to this important new position,” Locke said. “She has the expertise, legal skills and experience needed to effectively serve as a Superior Court judge.”

Runge has more than 16 years of legal experience. She is currently chief deputy prosecutor for Benton County. She manages the felony caseload and works with the county prosecutor on murder trials. She has served in the Benton County Prosecutor’s Office since 1986.

“I am appreciative that Governor Locke has seen fit to place his trust in me,” Runge said. “I am honored and privileged to become a member of the Benton-Franklin Counties Superior Court bench.”

Runge received her bachelor’s degree in psychology and a secondary education certificate from the University of Washington. She graduated from the University of Puget Sound School of Law and was admitted to the Washington Bar in 1986.
