Gov. Gary Locke’s Statement On East Coast Power Outages

Gov. Gary Locke today issued a statement on the power outages affecting the East Coast:

“There have been no reports of any power disruptions in Washington state. Our power grid is not connected to those currently being affected.

“I have been fully briefed on this situation. Our state Emergency Management Division is in contact with federal, state and local jurisdictions to monitor the situation and coordinate any actions should they be necessary.

“I am pleased that early reports indicate the outages occurred as a result of a surge in the power grid and there have been no indications of terrorism.”
