Gov. Locke's statement on House passage of Safe Schools bill

"I would like to thank the state House of Representatives for passing HB 1444, the Safe Schools bill.

"Making our schools as safe as possible so that all students have a right to learn in a safe, supportive school environment that is free of violence, bullying, intimidation or harassment is one of my top priorities.

"Today's bipartisan vote is encouraging and I urge the state Senate to quickly pass this legislation.

"I would like to thank Attorney General Christine Gregoire, Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Terry Bergeson and state Rep. Ed Murray for their leadership on this issue."
