Gov. Locke’s statement on Microsoft settlement

“I am delighted Microsoft and the Department of Justice reached a resolution in their anti-trust case. I believe the deal is good for Washington state, Microsoft and the national economy. It is my hope that the states involved in the case will agree and will accept the plan.

“While the deal will require Microsoft to share information to help competitors make Windows compatible products, it does not break up the company as once called for. With this settlement, Microsoft can move forward without impediment and continue to be a world leader in software innovation.”

“Microsoft is a vital part not only of Washington’s innovation industry but of the national economy as well. I am proud that Microsoft calls Washington home. I hope that the company continues to grow and prosper in the Pacific Northwest.”
