EXECUTIVE ORDER  69-11

I am informed that during the winter months the snow avalanche is a menace that poses a constant threat to vehicular traffic on certain sections of the Stevens Pass Highway. I am also informed that to protect life and property the conditions causing this avalanche threat must be reduced periodically, and that the Highway Department does not have the manpower or equipment to safely accomplish the task.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Daniel J. Evans, Governor of the State of Washington, in order to protect life and property, pursuant to authority vested in me under the provisions of R.C.W. 38.08.040, do hereby order the Adjutant General of the State of Washington to place on duty during the period 1 November 1969 through 30 June 1970 such troops and equipment of the Washington National Guard as may be necessary to alleviate the dangerous avalanche conditions at a time designated by the Director of Highway or his authorized representative.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set
my hand and caused the seal of the State of
Washington to be affixed at Olympia this
21st day of November A.D., Nineteen hundred and sixty-nine.
