Gov. Gregoire�s statement on the passing of Will Bachofner, former State Patrol chief

OLYMPIA � Gov. Chris Gregoire today issued the following statement on the passing of former Washington State Patrol Chief Will Bachofner:

�I was sorry to learn of the passing of Chief Bachofner, who dedicated more than 30 years of his life to serving Washingtonians and the Washington State Patrol. He served ably and with dignity, and will be remembered as the agency�s longest-serving chief. He was first appointed chief in 1964, and came out of retirement to serve as chief again in 1973. In all, he spent 11 years leading the Washington State Patrol.

�Chief Bachofner was a wonderful man who drew strength from his colleagues and family. He will be remembered for his bravery in the line of duty and skillful leadership.

�Our hearts go out to his family, friends and colleagues.�
