Gov. Gregoire appoints new regional representative for Southwest Washington

For Immediate Release: April 25, 2008

OLYMPIA Gov. Chris Gregoire today appointed Schuyler Hoss as her Southwest Washington Regional Representative. Hoss replaces Jim Jacks who vacated the position in March.

The regional representative serves as the primary point of contact for area constituencies to communicate directly with the Governors Office on matters of local concern.

Schuyler Hosss knowledge of economic development, healthcare, education and human services and his experience working on behalf of numerous community organizations make him an excellent choice to join my staff, said Governor Gregoire.

Hoss will support local governments, organizations, and residents in their interactions with the governors office and state government. He will also attend public events on behalf of the governor.

While he has very big shoes to fill, we are very pleased that Gov. Gregoire has appointed Schuyler to this important position, said Vancouver Mayor Royce Pollard. As a former elected official and a longtime resident of this community he has a unique perspective and understanding of our needs and he will do an excellent job representing Gov. Gregoire in Southwest Washington, he said.

Immediately prior to joining the Governors Office, Hoss ran an independent consulting firm, Home Healthcare Technology Associates, serving as President and Principal Consultant. Hoss also served as an elected school board member to Evergreen Public Schools.

Schuyler knows this community well, Gregoire added. He will be an excellent resource for the people of this area and my office.

Hoss, his wife Rhona and two sons Mathesen and Taylor have been residents of Southwest Washington for more than 20 years. He is active in the community and has been involved with several professional and civic organizations, including the National Association for Home Care, National School Board Association and the Evergreen School District.

Hoss begins work on April 28. The office is located in the Washington State Columbia River Crossing Office in Vancouver.
