Gov. Gregoire's statement on passage of Climate Change bill

OLYMPIA � Today the state Senate passed a climate change bill identical to the state House version. The executive request legislation will now go to Gov. Gregoire�s desk.

�I�m very pleased that the state Legislature has taken action to address the largest threat to our environment and economy. Global climate change is the greatest challenge our generation and future generations face, we must take bold steps to address it now.

�This bill will help guide Washington state in working toward a cleaner environmental future and sustainable economic development by laying the groundwork for creating green collar jobs.

�I appreciate the tireless work from the Climate Action Team, many legislators and citizens to help guide this bill. I look forward to signing this bill into law and moving our state forward on the fight against climate change.�
