Governor Gregoire congratulates Chevron and Weyerhaeuser for bold venture

OLYMPIA � Gov. Chris Gregoire today commented on the creation of a joint venture between and Chevron and Weyerhaeuser:

�I am very pleased by today�s news that Chevron Corporation and Weyerhaeuser Company are forming a joint venture to develop renewable fuels. Climate change threatens our environment�s health and stability, which in turn threatens our economic viability. As a leader in renewable energy, Washington can and must be innovative on moving forward for a cleaner and prosperous future.

�I firmly believe that Washington must evolve its economy the way we always have � by having bold and creative Washingtonians step up to the challenge posed by climate change.

�The more I see businesses such as Chevron and Weyerhaeuser take on these challenges, the more confident I am that we can accomplish great things.�
