Gov. Gregoire commends Microsoft for its support of anti-discrimination

For Immediate Release: May 6, 2005

OLYMPIA May 6, 2005 Gov. Christine Gregoire today commended Microsoft for reiterating its support for anti-discrimination legislation, and issued this statement:

Im very pleased. Microsofts support will help us end discrimination in Washington. I commend Microsoft for taking this opportunity to reassure the public and its employees of its support for anti-discrimination legislation in Washington state.

The people of Washington overwhelmingly support civil rights. We value and respect one another. We must each do everything we can to convey those values for our citizens and our business community.

The failure of the anti-discrimination bill during this legislative session was a great disappointment. I look forward to working with leaders of the Legislature, including Rep. Ed Murray, Sen. Lisa Brown and Speaker Frank Chopp, as well as leaders of the business community like Microsoft, to pass this legislation next year.
