Governor Gregoire Announces Boards and Commissions Appointments

Citizens appointed from Battle Ground, Tenino and Yakima

OLYMPIA - Governor Chris Gregoire today announced appointments to the following boards and commissions:

Professional Educators Standards Board
Joyce Westgard of Tenino has been appointed to a term effective July 1, 2007, ending June 30, 2011. Dr. Westgard is Dean of the College of Education at Saint Martin�s University. She is a member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and the Washington Association of Colleges of Teacher Education.

The Board is responsible for state policies and requirements for the preparation, certification, assignment and continuing education of certified education professionals.

Public Disclosure Commission
David Seabrook of Battle Ground has been appointed to a term effective May 22, 2007, ending December 31, 2011. Mr. Seabrook is a Captain and paramedic with the Vancouver Fire Department. He is a member of the Northwest Medical Team and traveled to Honduras in 2003 and Sri Lanka in 2004 to assist with tsunami relief. He is the chair of the Public Health Advisory Council and is a member of the board of Columbia River Mental Health Services and the Washington State Long-Term Care Ombudsman.

The Commission administers and enforces the Washington public disclosure law.

Yakima County Boundary Review Board
Glenn Rice of Yakima has been appointed to a term effective May 10, 2007, ending January 31, 2011. Mr. Rice is retired from public service and was the director of the City of Yakima�s community development department. In 1992, he became the assistant city manager until he retired in 2005.

The Board has jurisdiction over municipal annexations, incorporations, disincorporations and the creation or annexation of certain special districts. They also have jurisdiction over extensions of sewer and water services outside the city or district.
