Governor Gregoire Responds to House Capital Budget Proposal

For Immediate Release: March 19, 2007

OLYMPIA Governor Chris Gregoire today said the capital budget proposal released by Representative Bill Fromhold, the chair of the state House Capital Budget Committee, supports critical construction projects throughout the state, providing both family-wage jobs and important services to Washingtonians.

The House capital budget invests in many of my top priorities, including K-12 education, colleges and universities, local community projects across the state and public safety institutions that help keep criminals off the street, said Governor Gregoire.

Like Governor Gregoires budget proposal, Rep. Fromholds proposal would also invest significantly in low-income housing assistance and in cleaning up Puget Sound.

I want to thank Representative Fromhold for all his hard work. I look forward to seeing the Senates proposal and to working with both sides toward a final list of capital projects, said Governor Gregoire.
