Governor Gregoire Signs Agreement on Life Sciences with Queensland, Australia Premier Beattie

BRISBANE, AUS - Governor Chris Gregoire yesterday in Brisbane signed a �Memorandum of Understanding� with Queensland, Australia Premier Peter Beattie that signifies an agreement between Washington and Queensland to develop collaborative projects in the fields of biotechnology and the life sciences.

Washington and Queensland will further strengthen relationships between government, the industry, business and academic communities and other organizations through missions, exchanges of scientific and business leaders and the continued work of the Queensland-Washington Advisory Group.

The Queensland-Washington Advisory Group is a roundtable group of leading scientists from both states tasked to advise both sides on future state-to-state collaborative efforts in life sciences research, industry and education.

The agreement also encourages developing partnerships with philanthropic and venture capital organizations to invest in collaborative projects between the life science sectors of both states.
