Governor Gregoire Announces Motion Picture Board Appointments

Citizens appointed from Lakewood, Seattle and Spokane

OLYMPIA - Governor Chris Gregoire today announced appointments to the board of the Motion Picture Competitiveness Program.

The board will establish the qualifying criteria, review applications and issue a final determination as to which productions will have the most favorable economic impact to the state and therefore will be awarded a rebate from the motion picture competitiveness fund (established in 2006 by Senate Bill 6558).

Abby Dylan of Lakewood has been appointed to a term effective June 30, 2006, ending June 30, 2010. Ms. Dylan is an actress involved in theater, television, film, industrial and print work in New York, Los Angeles and Seattle. She has served as a member of the Screen Actors Guild, the Tacoma Youth Chorus and the Seattle International Children�s Theatre Festival�s Tacoma committee. Ms. Dylan is a theater instructor and directs programs for youth and adults in New York.

Don Jenson of Seattle has been appointed to a term effective June 30, 2006, ending June 30, 2010. Mr. Jenson is the president of Alpha Cine Labs. He has served as a director of production for Seasonticket.com and as vice president of production for Loudeye Technologies. Mr. Jenson is a member of Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels� task force on economic development and is president of the Washington Entertainment Industry players association. He worked to develop the legislation that shaped the board. Mr. Jensen has worked in the production and postproduction industry in Washington since 1974.

Jennifer Roth of Seattle has been appointed to a term effective June 30, 2006, ending June 30, 2010. Ms. Roth a self-employed independent producer with over 15 years of feature production experience. She was the executive producer of Chicago Picture�s �Train Wreck� and co-producer of Sony/IDP�s �The Squid and the Whale.� Ms. Roth is a member of the Northwest Film Forum and the Director�s Guild of America.

Craig Schafer of Seattle has been appointed to a term effective June 30, 2006, ending June 30, 2010. Mr. Schafer is the owner of Hotel Andra in Seattle and is the founder and past president of Colliers International Hotels. He is a board member of the Seattle King County Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Pike Place Market Foundation.

Harry Sladich of Spokane has been appointed to a term effective June 30, 2006, ending June 30, 2010. Mr. Sladich is the president and chief executive officer of the Spokane Regional Convention and Visitors Bureau. He was a hotel developer and operator for Sterling Hospitality. Mr. Sladich is a member of the Washington Tourism review board and an ex-officio board member of the Spokane Valley Chamber.

Rebecca Bogard of Seattle has been appointed to a term effective June 30, 2006, ending June 30, 2010. Ms. Bogard is the principal owner/managing partner of a government relations consulting firm with a diverse array of clients such as American Express, Diageo and Medtronic. She was the legislative counsel for Governor Booth Gardner and practiced as an attorney in Seattle. She is a member of the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce and the District of Columbia and Washington State Bar Association.

Mark Paben of Seattle has been appointed to a term effective June 30, 2006, ending June 30, 2010. Mr. Paben is a partner and the chair of the finance, insolvency and real estate practice group at Preston Gates & Ellis LLP. He was co-chair of Bogle & Gates P.L.L.C�s bankruptcy/insolvency and retail industry practice groups. Mr. Paben is a member of the International Bar Association.

David Robinson of Seattle has been appointed to a term effective June 30, 2006, ending June 30, 2010. Mr. Robinson is a business manager for I.A.T.S.E. Local 488, Studio Mechanics of the Pacific Northwest. He has served on the union�s executive board for 11 years and is an executive board member of the Martin Luther King Central Labor Council. Mr. Robinson is on Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels� advisory board for the office of film and music and is on the technical advisory board of Seattle Central Community College.
