OLYMPIA � Governor Chris Gregoire today proclaimed June as Great Outdoors Month in Washington. To commemorate the proclamation, Washington�s tourism office website will feature information on Washington festivals and the limitless outdoor recreation opportunities available in the state.

�Here in Washington, we are privileged to have such expansive landscapes, diverse wildlife and stunning public lands,� said Governor Gregoire. �There is no other place in the world where you can visit a rainforest, the wine country, a river gorge, two mountain ranges, nine volcanoes, numerous rivers, streams and lakes, a desert and several islands - all without leaving our state. Outdoor recreation presents an excellent opportunity to enjoy our state�s remarkable natural treasures and promotes health, fitness and environmental awareness.�
