Governor Gregoire Appoints Andrea McNamara Doyle to Pollution Control Board

For Immediate Release: March 31, 2006

OLYMPIA - Governor Chris Gregoire today announced the appointment of Mercer Island attorney Andrea McNamara Doyle to Washington's Pollution Control Board.

Her appointment is effective April 3, 2006, and will end June 30, 2008. The Pollution Control Board hears appeals with respect to decisions and orders of the Department of Ecology and with respect to all decisions of air pollution control boards or authorities. Members also serve on the Shorelines Hearings Board, which hears appeals of any person aggrieved by the granting, denying or rescinding of a permit on shorelines.

"Andrea McNamara Doyle's experience, professionalism and deep commitment to land use policy will serve the people of Washington well," said Governor Gregoire. "She will face some very complex issues as a member of the Pollution Control Board and I know she will approach each decision in a fair and deliberate manner."

Ms. McNamara Doyle will step down from her counsel position with the Seattle law firm of David Wright Tremaine LLP. She has worked in the Energy, Land Use and Government Relations divisions since September 2004. Prior to that, she worked for nearly a decade at the Washington State Senate's Committee Services, advising legislators in both parties on environmental and land use issues.

Ms. McNamara Doyle graduated from the University of Washington Law School in 1993 with high honors. She is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Energy Bar Association. She earned a bachelors degree from Western Washington University in 1988, graduating magna cum laude as valedictorian of her class.

Ms. McNamara Doyle currently participates in the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of King County's Leadership Tomorrow program.
