Governor Gregoire Signs Legislation Providing Incentives to Semiconductor Industry

For Immediate Release: March 16, 2006

VANCOUVER, WA - Governor Chris Gregoire today signed into law a measure that will provide tax incentives to support the semiconductor cluster in Washington.

"I'm very pleased to sign a bill that will help us to stay competitive in the 21st century economy, create family-wage jobs and stimulate the semiconductor industry right here in Clark County," said Governor Gregoire. "This measure will build a bridge between the semiconductor industry and those who invest capital in the industry.

The new incentives are contingent on the investment of at least $350 million for new manufacturing facilities in Washington for the production of advanced semiconductor materials.
