Gov. Gregoire�s statement on Dept. of Energy meeting

OLYMPIA � Gov. Chris Gregoire made the following statement today after her meeting with U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu on the ongoing clean-up effort at Hanford:

�I met with Sec. Chu and key leaders of his team to include some of his scientific and engineering experts working at Hanford. Those members presented a very pragmatic approach about what needs to be done. I am assured that they are prioritizing science and safety first. I feel strongly that Sec. Chu is personally committed to the clean-up effort at Hanford. I am very appreciative of his level of engagement in this critical issue for Washington.�
