Gov. Gregoire announces the appointment of Jennifer Ziegler as new Legislative and External Affairs Director

For Immediate Release: October 24, 2012

OLYMPIA – Gov. Chris Gregoire today announced that she has appointed her transportation policy advisor, Jennifer Ziegler as legislative and external affairs director.

“Jennifer has been a part of my administration for years, and has proven to be a team player with the skills needed to bring people together,” Gregoire said. “She is reasoned and thoughtful, and has already developed the relationships necessary to be successful in this role. I welcome her to my senior staff, and look forward to her advice and insight as we develop a final budget and other policy recommendations.”

Ziegler will replace Jim Justin, who will be leaving the governor’s administration to pursue new opportunities.

“Jim stepped into this role just months before a very difficult legislative session, and didn’t miss a beat,” Gregoire said. “He is widely respected, and has earned the admiration of those who have worked with him, including myself. I know I can always count on him for trusted advice – as well as a good laugh when one is needed. I wish him only the best.”

Justin joined Gregoire’s administration in 2010, after a 25 year career with the Association of Washington Cities, and helped oversee several legislative sessions centered on difficult budget negotiations. His last day in the office will be Friday, Nov. 2nd.
