Gov. Gregoires statement on Jim Albaughs retirement from Boeing

For Immediate Release: June 26, 2012

OLYMPIA Gov. Chris Gregoire today issued the following statement on the announcement by Jim Albaugh that hed be retiring as president and chief executive officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes:

Jim Albaugh is one of the finest chief executive officers in the nation, and one Ive had the pleasure of getting to know well. His departure is a huge loss to Boeing, and the men and women that make up the company. Under his leadership, Boeing has achieved historic success including record sales, increased production rates, a landmark labor agreement, and the landing of the U.S. Air Force refueling tanker. We should all be proud of his work and his accomplishments.

I welcome Ray Conner as the new president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Ray has spent his career at Boeing, and knows every aspect of the company. He will be a tremendous asset in this role. I hope to see him at the Farnborough Air Show next month and look forward to working with him in the future.
