Gov. Gregoires statement on President Obama signing legislation to reauthorize Export-Import bank

For Immediate Release: May 30, 2012

OLYMPIA Gov. Chris Gregoire today issued the following statement on the legislation signed today by President Obama to reauthorize the U.S. Export-Import bank:

Im pleased President Obama signed this critical piece of legislation to reauthorize the U.S. Export-Import bank an important bill supported by the President, myself and other governors. More than 160 Washington state companies, including Boeing, rely on the Ex-Im bank to gain access to important capital to help export their products. That financial assistance resulted in the exporting of tens of billions of dollars worth of products and services in the last five years alone making the Ex-Im bank a critical component to growing our state exports and creating new jobs.

I commend Washingtons Congressional delegation and Congress for passing this bill. Businesses that rely on this assistance now have the certainty they need to move forward and compete around the globe.
