Gregoire appoints Ron Sims to Puget Sound Partnership Leadership Council

OLYMPIA � Gov. Chris Gregoire has appointed former King County Executive Ron Sims to the Puget Sound Partnership Leadership Council.

�Ron�s record of environmental leadership is second to none,� Gregoire said. �As King County Executive, Ron helped expand mass transit and fight climate change, because he understood that an integrated approach was necessary to preserve the environment. Protecting Puget Sound requires an equally integrated approach, and I know Ron will put his passion, enthusiasm and expertise to good use on the council.�

�I am honored by the governor�s trust and faith,� Sims said. �I accepted the appointment on behalf of my granddaughter and her generation, because I want them to see a vibrant sound that is full of life. The joy of experiencing salmon runs, seeing pods of orca whales and eating fresh crab and clams would be a spectacular gift to pass on to future generations.�

Sims position was effective Oct. 10 and scheduled to end June 25, 2014.
