Gregoire appoints Carol Cockrill Albert as external affairs director

For Immediate Release: July 29, 2011

OLYMPIA Gov. Chris Gregoire named Carol Cockrill Albert as director of external affairs today. Albert replaces Marty Loesch, who now serves as chief of staff.

Carol knows Washington state inside and out, Gregoire said. Her long and diverse background will be an asset to the team as we work together to implement a bold, aggressive agenda over the next 17 months. Im glad to have Carol aboard and know she will be a great addition.

Albert has worked in national and state politics for nearly 20 years. After beginning her career on the Clinton-Gore Transition Team in 1993, she served as a Congressional aide in both the House and Senate and as a strategic advisor to U.S. Senator Patty Murray. In 2001, she launched a strategic consulting firm and has worked on numerous statewide candidate and ballot initiative campaigns. She also served as the Washington state director for Barack Obamas presidential bid in 2008.

Serving the people of Washington and working for Governor Gregoire will be a great honor, Albert said. Im looking forward to helping the governor, legislators and Washingtonians seize the opportunities only a state as resourceful and dynamic as Washington can present.

Albert will start August 8.
