Gov. Gregoires statement on Pyrotek expansion

For Immediate Release: June 1, 2011

OLYMPIA Gov. Chris Gregoire today issued the following statement on the announcement by Pyrotek, a global leader in the development, manufacture, and sale of high-temperature materials for industrial applications, that it has decided to relocate a manufacturing line from a plant in Mexico to their company headquarters in Spokane Valley. The company considered proposals from several U.S. locations, including Idaho, Pennsylvania and Tennessee:

Pyroteks announcement is great news for the Inland Northwest, and indicative of our hard work to ensure Washington state promotes business growth and success. This announcement means at least 20 new jobs in the Spokane Valley and a step closer to a full economic recovery.

I commend the effort of our Department of Commerce and Greater Spokane Incorporated, who worked closely with Pyrotek to ensure the company knew the advantages of moving its manufacturing line to Washington state. Im also pleased the company recognized the value of $150,000 in state support that I allocated for relocation assistance and employee training programs including $75,000 from the Strategic Reserve Account and $75,000 in Workforce Investment Act funds.

Pyrotek has been a good corporate citizen in Washington state and I congratulate the company on its expansion in Spokane Valley. I look forward to continued work with the company to ensure future success.
