Governor�s statement about Seattle City Council vote

OLYMPIA � Gov. Chris Gregoire released the following statement in response to the Seattle City Council�s vote to approve agreements with the state regarding the Viaduct replacement:

"Today marks the 10th Anniversary of the Nisqually earthquake and is a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities of the Alaskan Way Viaduct. I thank the Seattle City Council for their leadership on the bored tunnel and for their commitment to keep Seattle's economy moving forward. With the first pieces of the viaduct already taken down, we are on our way to ensuring public safety, preserving capacity for today and the future, and giving Seattle a world-class waterfront."
