Gov. Gregoire's statement on TIGER II awards

For Immediate Release: October 20, 2010

OLYMPIA Gov. Chris Gregoire today issued the following statement on the award of $45 million in TIGER II grants to help with road projects in Washington state:

This is a huge accomplishment for Washington state, and speaks volumes for local agencies, our Department of Transportation and other state leaders who spent countless hours on the application for this funding. Competing with important projects across the nation, Washington state received the third highest award, behind only California and Georgia.

This funding will go a long way toward completing critical infrastructure, and will not only create jobs in the near-term, but will ensure we have a transportation system that supports economic growth in the long-term. Projects like these are exactly what we need to ensure our economy gets back on track.
