Gov. Gregoire, Lt. Gov. Owen proclaim Sept. 17 as �Seattle Storm Day� in Washington

OLYMPIA � A joint proclamation signed by Gov. Chris Gregoire and Lt. Gov. Brad Owen proclaims Sept. 17 as �Seattle Storm Day� in Washington state following the team�s three-game sweep of the Atlanta Dream Thursday to win the WNBA national championship.

The proclamation details the team�s accomplishments over its winning season and praises its players, coaching staff and ownership group on the occasion of winning its second WNBA championship in the team�s 10 year history.

The proclamation also notes the Storm�s contributions to community that �serve as a powerful inspiration to the entire state.�

The resolution concludes with the governor and lieutenant governor urging �all citizens to pay honor to our hometown champions on this joyous occasion as victors of the 2010 WNBA National Championship.�
