Gov. Gregoire�s statement on new unemployment numbers

OLYMPIA � Gov. Chris Gregoire today issued the following statement on the new unemployment numbers issued today by the state�s Employment Security Department:

�The fact that Washington�s unemployment rate fell for the third straight month is a good sign for our economic recovery. This is the lowest rate in more than a year. That drop, coupled with the fact that private-sector hiring is increasing should be encouraging for our workforce. Creating and maintaining jobs is my top priority and so far this year we�ve added 20,000 new private-sector jobs.�
