Gov. Gregoire appoints new chair of Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals

OLYMPIA � Gov. Chris Gregoire today announced the appointment of David Threedy as the chair to the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals, where he has worked the last 24 years � most recently as an executive secretary and legal advisor for the board.

�Dave brings an immense and impressive amount of experience to this position,� Gregoire said. �His long career in various capacities at the board is proof of his commitment not only to the agency, but to the people he serves. I am confident he will bring a strong level of fairness to both workers and employers in our state.�

�I am honored to have been selected by Governor Gregoire to serve as Chair of the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals,� Threedy said. �I am committed to serving the workers and employers of this great state by providing well-reasoned decisions based on the law, as well as maintaining and advancing this agency as a forum for providing a fair and prompt resolution of disputes.�

The BIIA is an independent state agency that hears appeals from decisions made by the Department of Labor and Industries primarily centered around industrial insurance, safety citations and crime victim compensation. Threedy first joined BIIA in 1985 as an industrial appeals judge. Over the span of his career at the board, Threedy managed a new appeals division, as well as recruited, hired, trained and supervised legal and professional staff.

Prior to working at BIIA, Threedy maintained a general law practice.

Threedy earned a bachelor�s degree in psychology from the University of Illinois before attending Seattle University School of Law. His appointment is effective Monday, March 8. He will earn $109,344 annually.
