Gov. Gregoire congratulates Richland-based IsoRay Medical, Inc

OLYMPIA � August 2, 2005 � Gov. Christine Gregoire today congratulated IsoRay Medical, Inc.�s CEO and Chairman of the Board Roger Girard on the company�s announcement that it became publicly owned today.

�We�re excited for IsoRay and look forward to continuing conversation about supporting their business plan,� said Gov. Gregoire. �This company is an important part of the Tri-Cities business community. IsoRay and companies like it are part of the life sciences sector which is so essential to the future of Washington state.�

Girard and other IsoRay company leaders were in Olympia today working with state agencies on issues regarding permitting, workforce development and financial incentives.

�IsoRay began as a Washington company and we look forward to working with them as they continue to grow as a Washington company,� said Juli Wilkerson, director of Washington state�s department of Community, Trade and Economic Development.

IsoRay is the manufacturer and distributor of Cesium-131, a radioisotope used for cancer therapies. The first Cesium-131 implant was preformed last fall at the University of Washington Medical Center. Since then, more than 50 patients across the U.S. have received such implants. IsoRay�s new Richland production facility will open in September, 2005.
