Gov. Gregoire�s statement on Senate approval of an economic stabilization plan

OLYMPIA � Gov. Chris Gregoire this evening issued the following statement regarding Senate approval of an economic stabilization plan:

�I applaud the Senate�s quick action to move our country in the right direction for national financial security. I am particularly pleased that the package includes critical provisions that help Washingtonians, such as allowing for a state sales tax deduction on federal income tax returns, incentives for wind and solar initiatives to spur green collar jobs, and resources for our rural schools.

�Washington companies large and small have signaled their support for an economic stabilization plan. These provisions of the Senate�s plan will help Washington working families and businesses endure during this period of national economic instability.

�I strongly urge the U.S. House of Representatives to take immediate action to pass a stabilization plan that will help ease the credit crisis, protect consumers and move the nation forward.�
