In order to provide for effective action to alleviate the problems of migratory laborers in the State of Washington, I order the establishment of the Governor's Committee on Migratory Labor.

I charge this committee with responsibility for stimulating the development of programs, by public and private agencies and citizen groups, which will improve the conditions of the migratory laborer.

I further charge this committee with the responsibility of bringing to bear on the problems of the migrant laborer the programs of federal and state agencies as well as the capabilities of private organizations and of utilizing all possible research and planning resources in bringing about an improvement in the migratory laborer's participation in and benefit from the life of his community.

I designate the following persons, representing their respective agencies, as members of this committee:

Mr. Maurice Powers, Department of Public Assistance
Mr. Claude Shambley, Department of Employment Security
Mr. Duane Sommers, Department of Health
Mr. Richard Perry, Department of Agriculture
Mr. Dike Willoughby, Department of Public Instruction
Mr. Harry Elway, Department of Labor and Industries
Mr. Byron Brady, Office of Economic Opportunity

I shall from time to time designate citizen members to this committee in a number not to exceed one such citizen representative for each state agency representative, thus limiting committee membership to a total of fourteen (14) persons, and shall designate one of the committee members as chairman. Vacancies in committee membership that may occur from time to time will be filled by a letter of appointment from my office.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set
my hand and caused the seal of the State of
Washington to be affixed at Olympia this
9th day of December A.D., Nineteen hundred and sixty-five.

Daniel J. Evans
