EXECUTIVE ORDER  10-06-67

WHEREAS, the State of Washington has been undergoing an unprecedented economic growth and increase in its population, and

WHEREAS, this growth has brought with it very profound problems in housing, education, civil rights, and employment particularly as they affect the citizens in our urban areas, and

WHEREAS, solution to these problems present to us an enormous challenge and a commitment which will require the talents and energy of all our people, both private citizens, and public officials,

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Daniel J. Evans, Governor of the State of Washington, do hereby proclaim the Urban Affairs Council as a separate program within the Office of the Secretary of Sate. In so doing I request that this Council work in close cooperation with the Planning and Community Affairs Agency. I request that departments of state government give all reasonable assistance to this Council and I ask that local government officials and private citizens lend it their fullest measure of cooperation to the end that every citizen of our state may enjoy fully the promise of its future.
