EXECUTIVE ORDER  06-14-65

Chapter 75, Laws of 1963, authorized the establishment of a hospitalization and medical aid insurance program among state employees. Under the statute, the state may pay 50% or $5.00 per month of the premium, whichever is less.

In 1963, a Governor's Committee was formed to recommend to the Governor a plan for the implementation of Chapter 75, Laws of 1963. A technical committee was appointed by the Governor's Committee to conduct the studies, draw up specifications and ask for bids from insurance carriers. This has been done. I am satisfied that the specifications prepared by the technical committee and the bid recommended by this committee fully comply with the statute and offer to the employees of this State an outstanding health insurance program.

The successful bidder is the New York Life Insurance Company, a leading company in the insurance industry. A full and detailed explanation of the health insurance program will be made available to each employee in the near future. This program provides for a single carrier, New York Life Insurance Company, with optional coverage plans.

All code agencies are hereby instructed to participate in this program and to make it available to their employees who choose to participate. A meeting will be held on June 29th for ail department heads at which representatives of the Insurance Company will be present to explain the program. Shortly thereafter, a meeting, will be held for the fiscal officers of all agencies to discuss the necessary fiscal arrangements to take part in the program.

Any questions regarding health insurance should be directed to Mr. John Ayres, Supervisor of Purchasing, Department of General Administration, Olympia, Washington.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set
my hand and caused the seal of the State of
Washington to be affixed at Olympia this
14th day of June A.D., Nineteen hundred and sixty-five.

Daniel J. Evans
Governor of Washington
