Washington State Student Achievement Council

RCW 28B. 77.005

The Council’s duties include proposing goals for increasing educational attainment and the resources to support those goals; proposing improvements and innovations to help meet the goals; and advocate for increased commitment and resources for higher education and to link secondary and postsecondary education and training including the transition to careers. Other duties include developing a two year strategic action plan and ten-year roadmap, conducting systems reviews to approve the change in mission of an institution, facilitating the development and expansion of innovative practices, developing policy recommendations based upon data, collaborating with other organizations to set minimum college admission standards, help students prepare for and access postsecondary education and training, improve transitions, administer financial aid programs and to approve private degree institutions.

Qualification:

Five citizen members shall be appointed by the Governor. One of the citizen members shall be a student. The citizen members shall be selected based on their knowledge of or experience in higher education.
