This week, Washington joins states across the nation in celebrating Public Service Recognition Week. It is an annual opportunity to encourage excellence in government, connect with public employees and learn about what they do.

Even when it is not readily visible, the work public employees do makes a difference. They nurse the sick, aid the disadvantaged and nurture the young. They are educators, law enforcement officers, engineers and protectors of the environment. These professionals work in every city and county across our state and their work positively impacts thousands of Washingtonians every day.

Many agencies celebrate Public Service Recognition Week with lunchtime get-togethers to recognize employees for their leadership and efforts to go the extra mile. Regional celebrations will take place in Olympia, Seattle and the Tri-Cities. Members of the public are welcome to attend and celebrate public employees’ dedication to service. Hope to see you there!
