We know all too well the dangers that can be posed by extreme weather. The National Weather Service predicts much of the state can expect a winter storm bringing the potential of high winds, coastal area flooding, cold temperatures and snow starting Friday. I urge all Washingtonians to take steps to prepare themselves and their families as we enter the winter storm season.
Residents can prepare for potential power outages and school and road closures by:
Checking and replenishing your three-day emergency supply of food, water, batteries, flashlights and other necessities.
Reviewing how to protect yourself and family whether indoors, outside or on the road.
Paying attention to news coverage of the weather.
Staying home if you do not absolutely need to be somewhere.
Checking for closures on your normal driving routes before you leave if you must be on the road.
