Governor-Elect Dino Rossi Kicks off Forward Washington Tour

Governor-Elect Dino Rossi continues his “Forward Washington” tour. The tour kicked off last night in Aberdeen at the Rotary Log Pavilion.

Rossi will appear Saturday, December 11 at 1 p.m. in Mt. Vernon at Hawthorne Reception Hall [1825 E. College Way] and at 3:30 p.m. on Whidbey Island at the Skagit Valley College on the corner of SE Pioneer Drive and Regatta Drive. Other locations will be announced next week.

Transition Team Budget Director Dan McDonald will join Governor-Elect Rossi in presenting an overview of Washington’s upcoming 2005-2007 budget. The budget has a projected shortfall of $1.8 billion. Governor Locke supports a tax increase.

Governor-Elect Rossi acknowledges the gravity of the shortfall but remains confident that no new taxes will be needed to create a balanced budget. Rossi said “My primary mission as Governor will be to bring businesses and jobs back to Washington state. Raising taxes will take us backwards. We are going to make Washington a good place for families and business by living within our means.”

The Forward Washington listening tour invites the public to attend and participate in creating the solutions the Rossi Administration will need to resolve the projected shortfall.
