Description: | These records include Resolutions 101A through 1072 enacted by the Steilacoom Town Council for meetings from June 10, 1890, through September 4, 2007. Both resolution numbers 118 and 119 appear to have been used twice. There are several unnumbered resolutions, which are identified by their date of adoption. Resolutions numbers 501, 528, 529 624, are not included, while numbers 147, 515, 627 and 774 were not used.

Agency History: | After the establishment of nearby Fort Steilacoom in 1849 by the United States Army, Captain Lafayette Balch founded Port Steilacoom in 1850. In 1854, Steilacoom became Washington Territory's first incorporated town. It was the Pierce County seat from 1852 to 1880 when residents voted to move the county seat to Tacoma. |
