Agency History: | Ellensburg is located in central Washington, and is the Kittitas County seat. Originally incorporated in 1883, a second Charter of Incorporation was enacted by the Legislative Assembly of the Territory of Washington in 1886. The city government was officially formed in 1886. Ellensburg was originally Ellensburgh, but dropped the h in 1894. A major fire destroyed much of the city in 1889. Ellensburg adheres to a Council-Manager form of government, and is home to Central Washington University. |
