Description: | These two scrapbooks were created by Senate Hostess Muriel K. Little during the 1979 legislative session. There are 20 pages in the first scrapbook, 20 pages in the second scrapbook, and 74 loose items. The cover for the first scrapbook measures 12 x 10.5 inches, and each page measures 12 x 10 inches. The cover for the second scrapbook measures 12 x 10.5 inches, and each page measures 12 x 10 inches. It includes various items related to the legislative session including clippings, correspondence, documents, greeting cards, invitations, newspapers, pamphlets, photographs, programs, and various ephemera. Dominant subjects include the forty-sixth legislature, the Hood Canal Bridge collapse, solar eclipse, Seattle Supersonics, Robert Perry, and the roast of August P. Mardesich,
The scrapbook can be browsed page by page. Pages are numbered as they fall in the scrapbook (ex: “p003” is page 3 of the scrapbook). Some pages include overlapping or folded items. In these cases, the pages are imaged so that each item can be seen. Items on a page are named a, b, c, and so on (ex: “p003_a” is item a on page 3 of the scrapbook). Some items include multiple pages, such as brochures, booklets, and periodicals. These items are given an item name, followed by a page number (ex: “p003_a_08” is page 8 of item a on page 3 of the scrapbook). |

Agency History: | Muriel Keith Little (b. 1918) was as a Senate Hostess for the Washington State Senate from 1963 to 1990. Muriel originated the idea of the Senate Hostess program in 1963, and began conducting tours of the Capitol from the Senate with a staff of three hostesses. The Senate Hostess program ended in 1994 when the General Administration Department took over the management of campus tours. |
