Agency History: | The City of Selah takes its name from the Indian word meaning "still or smooth water". The Selah valley was first settled in 1865. In 1907, two Swedish immigrants established the Selah Trading Company and began advertising in Swedish newspapers in the Midwest, hoping to encourage more immigrant settlement in Selah. The City of Selah was incorporated in 1919 and is located in Yakima County. |
