There are 138 pages in the scrapbook, and pages are intermixed with two different sizes: 14 x 11.5 in. or 13 x 10.75 in. Dominant subjects include the Governor’s Festival of the Arts, attendance at a White House briefing on Vietnam, a trade mission to Japan, South Korea, Formosa, and Hong Kong, the Columbia River diversion, the resignation of George F. Stastny (State Budget Chief), the Western Governors’ Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, Evans’ honorary degree from Whitworth College, a visit to honor the National Guard at the Yakima Firing Center, the pending birth of Bruce Evans, and family activities. Pages may include photographs, newspaper and article clippings, correspondence, speeches, promotional materials, memorabilia, and ephemera. This scrapbook is volume 10 of 40.
The scrapbook can be browsed page by page. Pages are numbered as they fall in the scrapbook (ex: “p003” is page 3 of the scrapbook). Some pages include overlapping or folded items. In these cases, the pages are imaged so that each item can be seen. Items on a page are named a, b, c, and so on (ex: “p003_a” is item a on page 3 of the scrapbook). Some items include multiple pages, such as brochures, booklets, and periodicals. These items are given an item name, followed by a page number (ex: “p003_a_08” is page 8 of item a on page 3 of the scrapbook). The Daniel J. Evans Scrapbooks cover the years 1956-1976 and 1983-1988. There are 40 scrapbooks in this collection. |
