Between 1902 and 1921, registers of embalmers licensed to practice in Washington include name, residence, license number, and year of application. From 1921 to 1935, applications include name, residence, license number, year of application, date and place of birth, and educational background. Applications may also include a photograph (indicated in the indexing), correspondence (indicated in the indexing), work experience, and other personal information. Prior to 1921, the Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers oversaw the professional licensing of embalmers. The Department of Licenses was established to bring together the independent licensing boards for various professions, thereby assuming responsibility for embalmers in 1921. |
