Agency History: | The Puget Sound Council of Governments was an organization of local governments in King, Kitsap, Pierce and Snohomish Counties created to provide a forum for finding regional solutions to transportation and growth issues. Initially organized in 1957 as the Puget Sound Governmental Conference, it was reorganized as the Puget Sound Council of Governments in 1975. From 1976 it served as the federal Metropolitan Planning Organization. It dissolved in 1991 and its functions largely assumed by the Puget Sound Regional Council. |
